Bentonite

Bentonite is claimed to bind to a number of toxins, thus rendering them harmless. Animal studies point to evidence of this effect.

Betonite should be avoided by nursing mothers, women who are pregnant, and the elderly. Individuals who use Bentonite should ingest plenty of fluid (water, juice) concurrently to avoid possible intestinal obstruction. Bentonite shouldn't be used concurrently with medicines or nutritional supplements. There is no documentation in people that Bentonite has any benefit as a trace mineral source or as an aid in removing toxins from the colon. There are no reports of adverse reactions at doses usually used in nutritional supplements. Higher doses may have a laxative effect, and if not taken with plenty of fluids, might cause intestinal obstruction. Bentonite may adsorb certain medicines. Bentonite should not be taken concurrently with any medicines. Bentonite may adsorb certain nutritional supplements and thus should not be used concurrently with them. Bentonite may also adsorb components of certain foods and herbs. This website is intended to educate and inform, and should not replace discussions with your doctor.
