Deanol

Claims that Deanol is useful in age-related cognitive deficits, Alzheimer's disease, and in aging itself are without foundation.

Nursing mothers and women who are pregnant should avoid Deanol. Deanol has been reported to inhibit the oxidation of choline to betaine. Betaine is involved in the metabolism of homocysteine and elevated homocysteine levels are connected with an increased risk of atherosclerosis. Individuals with elevated homocysteine levels should avoid Deanol. Reported adverse reactions include cramps, constipation, headache, insomnia, and the induction of lucid dreams.
